Hungary’s first environmentally friendly shopping centre, the Hegyvidék Centre opens to the public
Where culinary art and world fashion meet!
The newest shopping centre in Hungary and in Budapest opens on Friday 12 October 2012. The compact, 6500 m2 family-friendly shopping centre is getting ready to offer high-quality products and services at affordable prices and in an environmentally conscious manner.
Apor Vilmos tér in Budapest’s District XII has been a centre of retail trade for many decades. The Hegyvidék Centre revitalises this traditional function in a form that meets the most exacting demands, and is environmentally friendly. The many special features of Hungary’s first “green” shopping centre include the fact that it is the first place in the country where the latest electric vehicles can be charged while their owners are shopping, while the centre makes use of rainwater and even recycles – after purification – its tap water. The building is topped with an almost 1000 m2 green roof, which plays a role both in air purification and in the building’s heat management. Bicycle storage facility serves to promote environmentally friendly transport.
Besides the opportunity to conveniently do your daily and weekly shopping or enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, the centre also offers a taste of the best of Hungarian and international gastronomy, while global fashion brands that cannot be found elsewhere are also available here.
When designing the building, the objective was to create a family-oriented shopping centre on a human scale. The interior, which combines a homely atmosphere with classy elegance, has straightforward layout and is easy to get around. Nobody will have to spend ages searching for where to buy a bunch of flowers or the morning newspaper.
Parking isn’t a problem either when making use of the services, as the two-storey underground car park has plenty of spaces. The family parking spaces serve to make visits to the centre as convenient as possible. Besides being handy for motorists, the new shopping centre is also easily approachable on foot. The area is extremely well-served by public transport, with several buses and a tram stopping at Apor Vilmos tér.
A special interior feature is the contemporary artistic creation, the world’s largest lenticular work of art, running vertically for almost the full height of the building: a picture that shows different colours and dimensions to observers from every angle, thus offering a unique experience for everyone. The centre’s commitment to the arts is also evidenced by the children’s drawings, by students at the Szépia Drawing School, on display in the Hegyvidék Gallery on the top floor.
The building’s information system is also unique. The face recognition system of the info-desk is capable of automatically recommending items from the product ranges of the shops, based on the customer’s age and gender.
The Hegyvidék Centre was the only new-build commercial property development to be carried out in 2012. It was constructed in an investment by WING Zrt., and will create approximately 200 new jobs in the district.
WING is one of the largest Hungarian property businesses, a professional company which, thanks to its stable, strong capital base and financial background and more than ten years of experience in the property market, was capable of implementing a successful investment even in today’s economic environment. The project is being financed by Hypo Noe Gruppe Bank AG, one of Austria’s leading banks, which looks back over a history of more than 120 years. The other members of the project teams were WING’s subsidiaries, the contractor Market Építő Zrt, Hungary’s number one construction firm, and Aspectus Architect Zrt, which was responsible for the design work, under the direction of CEO László Szerdahelyi. The project management was performed by Óbuda Újlak Zrt.
WHAT THE SHOPPING CENTRE OFFERS: SERVICES, GASTRONOMY, FASHION
Opening in the centre will be the district’s largest branch of OTP Bank, offering premium branch services in an area of 650 m2, with the introduction of new, state-of-the-art IT solutions. Besides this, OTP will also open a private banking unit and travel agency in the centre.
The CBA Príma store that will open here is the most attractive delicatessen supermarket in the country, and will enrich your daily and weekly shopping trips with a range of delicacies and an inspiring recipe club, special organic and health foods, and other high-quality products of Hungarian culinary art.
The world of gastronomy is well-represented. The Szervusz Bistro offers breakfast, lunch and supper. The Príma Pék bakery sells a range of wholegrain, rye and seed-based products. The La Praline French patisserie brings us authentic French pastries made to original family recipes. The centre’s “corner shops” selling specialised culinary fare – Delizia and Juice Bár, Swiss Selection, Szamos Chocolate, Primagora fruit and vegetables – aim to offer the finest of everything, and in addition to the wide range of organic foodstuffs there is a veritable cornucopia of premium-quality delicatessen products to choose from. The capital city’ first premium fishmonger, Vörös Homár, offering freshwater fish straight from the aquarium, and a variety of fresh seafood, fills a real gap in the market. If you’re after meat delicacies, premium-quality products, an unmatched hamburger experience or just the ingredients for your Sunday roast then Józsi Gál, the best butcher in the country, is ready and waiting to serve you. Coffee-lovers can savour the world’s most exotic varieties, Kopi Luwak and Jamaica Blue Mountain, at the Coffea Arabica café in the Hegyvidék Centre. Diabetic and health-conscious shoppers will also be satisfied with the wide range of confectionaries and sweeteners. The Bortársaság wine shop opening in the centre will showcase the finest Hungarian and foreign wines.
Those looking for women’s, men’s and children’s fashions and accessories can choose between the premium brands on offer at Stefanel, Emanuel Berg, Olsen, Triumph, J.Press, Vathy’s Corner and Jacadi. Books are also coming to the centre, as the Lira bookshop complements a convenient shopping experience with expert advice from staff. The needs of those who want to get away from it all will be served by the Neckermann-Thomas Cook and OTP Travel travel agencies, whose name is a guarantee of quality for the discerning traveller. The dm beauty and health store and DR+MED pharmacy will be provide their usual high standard of service in the Hegyvidék Centre too, paying special attention to giving their customers the best possible care. The Harmony & Beauty cosmetic salon awaits its guests with premium-quality beauty services, and the hairdressing studio is Hungary’s flagship salon for the Senscience by Shiseido brand.
The quality and choice guarantee that when it opens, the Hegyvidék Centre will be a place where people feel truly at home, where they enjoy being and where, as well as rapidly dispensing with their everyday chores, are also happy to meet up.
